CourtListener republishes court filings as part of a free legal archive, and it doesn't ask whether the case is old, resolved, or something you'd rather not have surfacing. For a lot of people, this listing becomes the first thing anyone finds.
How Removal From CourtListener Actually Works
CourtListener won't delete a record without a valid court order, and it says so plainly on its own policy page.
As a nonprofit legal archive, CourtListener defends publishing public filings on First Amendment grounds and says it has never lost litigation over the practice. It will block a specific record from search indexing on request, which is different from deletion. The same filing often turns up on Justia and UniCourt too, and each needs its own request.
